Is the therapeutic approach that incorporates both mindfulness and a shift in beliefs and behaviors. Which can also be defined as cognitive and behavioral restructuring.
Mindfulness is the practice of one being present with their feelings and thoughts. The client, with the guidance of their therapist works on being in the here and now and not in in the “what if’s” of tomorrow or the “could have or should have” of the past. It is the practice of living in the present moment and noticing thoughts and emotions without judgement.
One is encouraged to pay attention to their thoughts, emotions, and feelings and in doing so be curious with what arises within oneself. This is an effective and gentle approach in addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, pain, and other mental disturbances.
